“Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of Life can contain your hearts.
And Stand together yet not too near together:
For the pillars of the temple stand apart,
And the oak tree and the cypress grow
not in each other’s shadow.”
-Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet
Love experienced through duality can be a beautiful thing; like considering the Spirit’s love for the Body or vice versa; or the ecstatic union of two lovers. It can be hard at times, too. To know and understand this concept intellectually is one thing, but to authentically feel and trust it as truth can be all the more challenging.
“Way Back to You” sprung from a similar notion. At it’s roots it’s a love song. But it speaks to universal love; the kind of love that dwells within the midsts of romantic love but reaches greatly beyond it; interpersonally, inwardly, spiritually, and compassionately. It’s about trusting and knowing that in constant tug-of-war between oneness and separateness in our reality, there is a fabric that binds us all. And in one way or another, will always bring us back to ourselves.
Without further adieu, here’s the brand new single from my debut album One set to be released on July 16th everywhere.
